An identity check is exactly what it sounds like—a way of verifying a person is exactly who they say they are. It is not uncommon for people to attempt to pose as other people online or to submit false or fraudulent information with applications. Not every person who submits false information does so with extremely malicious intent, but it should always be a red flag when a person is untruthful about who they are in an application.
